The Department of Aircraft Production (DAP) Bristol Beaufort production line was established in Australia during WWII to meet RAAF and RAF needs. In the end, the RAAF took the entire production. The DAP Beaufort IX "Beaufreighter" was a modification of the Beaufort VIII to meet communications and freight requirements. 46 were produced and it served operationally in the South West Pacific and as a communications aircraft in Australia.

The High Planes Models kit includes limited run injection moulded plastic and white metal parts, vacuum formed canopies by Falcon and three decal options.
