The North American P-51A Mustang was the first improvement of the original production P51, developed in parallel with the A-36 Apache. It featured an uprated Alison V-1710 engine, revised armament and detail changes including provision for long range tanks. The P-51A was ordered by the USAAF and 310 built, 50 going to the RAF as the Mustang II. The inner wheel flipper doors are moulded closed as appropriate for the P-51A, but if you so want the High Planes Models Mustang wheel wells can be bought separately and inserted (dropped flaps are also included with the accessory set 072001). Decals are supplied for two USAAF aircraft as used in the CBI area. This fine kit will also not look out of place alongside our Mustang Mk X (72029) The High Planes Models kit includes limited run injection moulded plastic, resin and white metal parts, vacuum formed canopies by Falcon and two decal options.
